Wheel Alignment in Los Angeles, CA
Carotech Automotive performs precision two-wheel and four-wheel alignments for Los Angeles drivers at 8687 West Pico Boulevard (90035). A proper alignment keeps your car tracking straight, protects your tires, and improves fuel economy.

One pothole can throw it off
One hard hit on a pothole or curb can knock your alignment out of spec. In Los Angeles, that happens a lot. When the angles are off, your tires scrub with every mile, and a new set can wear out long before it should.
Our Alignment Services

- Front-end and thrust alignment for vehicles with solid rear axles
- Steering wheel centering and steering angle sensor reset where required

Signs You Need an Alignment
Alignment, Rotation, and Balance: What Is the Difference?
Alignment
Adjusts the angles of your wheels relative to the road and each other.
Balancing
Corrects weight differences in the tire and wheel.
Rotation
A tire rotation moves tires to different positions so they wear evenly.
All three work together to maximize tire life.

The Three Alignment Angles Explained
An alignment adjusts three main angles to your manufacturer's specifications:

Toe
Toe is whether the fronts of the tires point slightly inward or outward when viewed from above. Incorrect toe is the most common cause of fast, feathered tire wear.
Camber
Camber is the inward or outward tilt of the tire when viewed from the front. Too much camber wears the inside or outside edge of the tire.
Caster
Caster is the forward or backward tilt of the steering axis when viewed from the side. It affects steering stability and how well the wheel returns to center after a turn.
On a four-wheel alignment, we also check rear angles and the thrust angle, which determines whether the rear wheels push the car straight ahead.
What Happens During an Alignment
- Pre-alignment inspection: we check tire pressure, tire wear, and suspension and steering parts for looseness
- Mount the sensors: alignment targets attach to each wheel and our equipment measures the current angles
- Compare to specs: readings are compared to your manufacturer's factory specifications
- Adjust: we adjust toe, camber, and caster where your vehicle allows
- Center the steering wheel and reset the steering angle sensor if required
- Road test: we confirm the car tracks straight and the wheel is centered
Alignment and Driver-Assist Features
Many newer vehicles use lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise, and other driver-assist systems that rely on the vehicle tracking straight. If your alignment is off, these systems may behave unpredictably. After an alignment, some vehicles need a steering angle sensor reset, and we will let you know if your vehicle requires additional calibration.
Protect Your Alignment on LA Streets
- Slow down for speed humps and dips in residential neighborhoods
- Approach driveways and parking blocks at an angle and at low speed
- Avoid hitting potholes head-on when it is safe to steer around them
- Keep tires properly inflated, since low pressure makes alignment problems worse
Alignment for Trucks, SUVs, and EVs
Trucks and SUVs with lift or leveling kits often need extra adjustment to bring angles back into range. EVs are heavy and deliver instant torque, which can make tires wear quickly when the alignment is even slightly off. We align all of these vehicles to their specific requirements.

How Much Can an Alignment Save You?
A set of tires is one of the bigger maintenance purchases you will make. If your alignment is off, tires can wear out tens of thousands of miles early, especially on the inside edges where wear is hard to see. A misaligned vehicle also has more rolling resistance, which costs you at the pump.
Compared with the price of replacing tires early, an alignment is an inexpensive way to protect your investment. That is why we recommend checking your alignment once a year and every time you buy new tires.
If you recently bought new tires elsewhere, you can still bring your vehicle to us for an alignment. We will check your tire wear, inspect steering and suspension components, and share before-and-after measurements so you know your new tires are starting off right.

Quick Facts
Wheel Alignment FAQs
How often should I get a wheel alignment?
Check your alignment once a year, whenever you install new tires, and after any hard pothole or curb impact.
How long does an alignment take?
Most alignments take about an hour. If worn suspension parts need replacing first, we will let you know before doing any extra work.
Can bad alignment damage my tires?
Yes. Misalignment causes uneven tread wear that can shorten tire life by thousands of miles.
Do I need an alignment with new tires?
It is strongly recommended. An alignment protects the new tread and helps you get the full mileage you paid for.
Why is my steering wheel crooked after hitting a pothole?
A hard impact can shift alignment angles or bend a steering or suspension component. An alignment check will show which.
Will an alignment fix a vibration?
Usually not. Vibration is more often caused by tire balance, a bent wheel, or worn parts. We check for these during your visit.
Can I check my alignment at home?
You can notice signs like pulling or an off-center steering wheel, but measuring angles requires alignment equipment. Watch for uneven tire wear as an early clue.
Do lowered or lifted vehicles need special alignment?
Often, yes. Modified ride heights can push angles out of factory range and may require adjustable components to correct.
Does an alignment include a tire rotation?
No, they are separate services, but they pair well. Ask us to combine them in one visit.
